Homicide: Life on the Streets aired from 1993 to 1999 on NBC. The series ran for seven seasons and 122 episodes. Some of the episodes were based around events that took place in David Simon's book "Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets." The series was mostly shot in Baltimore, Maryland using 16mm hand-held cameras. This technique gave the show a gritty feel that was unique at the time. Homicide struggled to obtain good ratings throughout its run despite positive critic reviews.
